Kwara State Launches Agricultural Input Subsidy Scheme
The Kwara State government has been commended for successfully launching its Agricultural input subsidy scheme to boost agricultural production in this state.
A large scale farmer and Managing Director of Irada Farms, Alhaji Abdulwahab Funsho Zakari made this commendation in a congratulatory message to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq on his second year in office.
He said never in the history of the state has local and indigenous farmers enjoy such largesse from a sitting government.
Alhaji Zakari stated that the Agricultural input subsidy to farmers would enable them access to various inputs at 50% market price, this is commendable, as it aligns with the state strategic plan for food security and sustainable development.
Alhaji Zakari said coming at a time farmers suffered a lot of hardship in the last farming season as a result of COVID-19, the subsidy will serve as an intervention and compensation to the state’s farmers as well as help in boosting food production in the state.
Alhaji Zakari stressed that the subsidy would help boost food security not only in Kwara State but Nigeria as a whole.
He also thanked Governor Abdulrazaq for planning to go into partnership with the Lagos State Government on rice production.
“This is a wise decision considering our proximity to Lagos, we have the land and I urge the governor to fasttrack this move as it is a legacy that will outlive his government” beside bringing development and economic prosperity to the state.
Similarly, Alhaji Zakari showered encomiums on the governor for the commissioning of 15 new tractors and implements which is under the mechanization component of his government’s agricultural transformation plan. He said the mechanization programme will no doubt ensure increased output of higher value products and will also eliminate hardship associated with agricultural production powered by human labor.
Alhaji Zakari who described the administration of Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq as Agricultural Booster noted that his government has committed so much resources to support smallholder farmers since coming on board. He concluded by emphasizing that Kwara State farmers at the grassroot can now tell the difference in terms of which government really has them in mind.
