Governor Otu Shows Courage, Takes On Construction of Difficut Boki Road

In what has become a familiar trend since he got into office, Cross River governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has displayed great courage by undertaking to finish up the difficult Boki East-West road begun by his predecessor, Governor Ben Ayade. The road, which will link Boki One state constituency with its Boki Two counterpart, passes through very difficult pristine forest and topography and is likely to open up the frontier to Ndok junction in Ogoja and Ekpugrinya on the Ogoja-Ikom highway. The road spans a total of 28 kilometers.
Since August 28, 1991, when the local government area was created, the people have remained bulkanized in seperate semi- autonomous clans with no access roads to facilitate inter-community transportation. Most Boki people are constrained to traverse the neighbouring Ikom, Ogoja, and Obanliku local government areas before accessing other parts of the local government area. With the construction of this road, movement from Eastern Boki, Abo, and Boje entities to Osokom 1and 2 and then to Irruan will become a thing of joy for the people.
What is even more commendable is the choice of Mssrs Faith Plant as contractors because the company has a rich history of quality delivery of turn-key infrastructure projects. My prayer is that Faith Plant will hasten work on the road because the rains are very heavy in that area and could further destroy the work already done if it is not finished.
The groundbreaking for the project was done by the deputy governor, His Excellency, Peter Odey, amidst fanfare and a near carnival atmosphere by grateful and excited members of the community. Thank you, Governor Otu, for opening up Boki and keeping your promise to the people. God bless the Governor of Cross River State.
