Government To Tackle Issue Of Out-Of-School Children-Minister

Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its determination to holistically tackle the issue of out-of-school Children in the country.

The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba disclosed this on Thursday while presiding over the 65th National Council on Education meeting held in Jalingo the Taraba State Capital.

Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba stated that the issue of “Out Of School Children” will continue to be given top priority attention until the narratives are changed by the present administration led by President Mohammadu Buhari.

According to the Honourable Minister, the Federal Government has remained committed to improving the welfare of teachers, hence the pronouncement of five years extension of the retirement age of teachers in the country and subsequent transmission of an executive bill to the National Assembly for the necessary legislative framework, by President Buhari.

Declaring the meeting open, the Deputy Governor of Taraba State Engr. Haruna Manu, expressed happiness over the choice of Taraba State as the host of the 65th edition of the meeting adding that the State Government is ready to partner with the Federal Government in any area in order to ensure that the issue of Out-of-school children is put to rest.

Engr. Haruna who welcomed the Honourable Minister and his team to the state thanked them for not only gracing the meeting but also making the session worthwhile.

The 65th National Council on Education meeting was attended by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen; the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono; State Commissioners of Education and other critical stakeholders in the Nigerian Education Sector.
