Cross River State Commissioner for Information, Dr Erasmus Ekpang has been elected secretary of the Progressives Governors Forum Information Commissioners after its meeting in Maiduguri, Borno State.
This is according to a statement made available to PeakNews in Abuja.
This is just as the Forum reaffirmed its commitment to strategic coordination, evidence-based communication, and value-driven governance across All Progressives Congress (APC)-governed states.
This resolution emerged from the PGF Quarterly Strategy Meeting of Hon. Commissioners for Information, held from October 15 to 16, 2025, at the Borno State Government House, Maiduguri.
Anchored on the theme “FGN–PGF Synergy 2025: One Message, One Future,” the meeting brought together Information Commissioners from APC-controlled states to assess progress, share innovations, and enhance the impact of government communication efforts.
The Commissioners commended the leadership and vision of Progressive Governors, noting that their policy choices and strategic investments are improving governance and citizens’ welfare.
They pledged continued support in amplifying the achievements of APC-led administrations and sustaining a unified communication front across the federation.
In a major step towards coordination, the meeting emphasized the strengthening of synergy between the Federal Government and the Progressive Governors’ Forum as a strategic platform for policy alignment, joint implementation, and shared progress.
The Commissioners also received and endorsed the PGF National Value Reorientation Campaign, describing it as a critical instrument for restoring civic responsibility, patriotism, and ethical consciousness among Nigerians.
They resolved to domesticate the proposed National Value Reorientation Charter through community-level advocacy and state-driven partnerships.
A key highlight of the meeting was the establishment of the leadership of the Forum of Honourable Commissioners for Information of APC-Governed States, as follows: Chairman: Prof. Usman Tar (Hon. Commissioner for Information, Borno State) Secretary: Dr. Erasmus Ekpang (Hon. Commissioner for Information, Cross River State) Communication & Public Engagement: Ahmed Maiyaki (Hon. Commissioner for Information, Kaduna State).
The meeting expressed appreciation to His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Governor of Borno State, for hosting the Strategy Meeting and for the exceptional hospitality extended to delegates.
The Forum resolved to convene its next quarterly strategy meeting in Abuja during the first quarter of 2026.
