The Hon Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen OFR KSG has condemned in the strongest possible terms, the recent abduction of children from Government Secondary School, Kagara, Niger State. In a statement made available to PEAKNEWS in Abuja, she described the act as criminal, adding that criminal gangs have no respect for humanity.

According to her “This act further shows that criminal gangs in the country are callous and have no respect for the dignity of human beings as enshrined in our laws and religious books.

As a mother, I plead with these abductors to please have the fear of God and exercise a little compassion by releasing these young Nigerians” She said.

“Keeping these innocent citizens in captivity, for no offence committed by them, is not the right thing to do no matter the grievances”, she added.

Tallen called on the parents of the abducted children to conduct themselves in a calm way to enable government come to the rescue of the children.

“I believe that government is on top of the situation and will soon put an end to these incessant act of criminality”.

The Minister noted that “it’s on record that our security operatives have successfully negotiated, rescued or secured the release of our children in similar circumstances before. It is now my belief that our security operatives will, surely, repeat the feat in this case, therefore, let us remain positive and pray for the quick release of the students”.
