Prof Michael P. Okom whose academic profession has taken a progressive turn over the years has expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Florence Obi, the Senate and the Governing Council of the University Of Calabar for finding him worthy to serve in another exalted position as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration of the renowned University Of Calabar.
Prof. Okom has been HOD Private Law twice, Director ICT, Dean of Law before he was made Professor Of Law, he rose to a member of the University of Calabar Governing Council, before his present appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration.
Prof. Okom is an Alumnus of the Faculty Of Law, University Of Calabar. His tenacious disposition to issues and his passion for people Is what has turned him into a trailblazer In the academic subsector.
There is no gainsaying that he will keep moving from glory to greater glory in his pursuit of excellence.
During the handing over ceremony, he pledged his unalloyed support to Prof. Florence Obi’s administration, noting that he sees a new dawn for the institution.
He called on the students and the University Community to join the revolution to add value to the University of Calabar by rejigging the status quo.
He also thanked His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for his doggedness in transforming the educational subsector In Cross River State.
He averred that it is common knowledge that he is the most women-friendly Governor in Nigeria. He affirmed that the Governor has made history with the emergence of Prof. Florence Obi as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University Of Calabar during his tenure.
