Osigwe Takes Office As The New NBA President
Afam Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has been elected as the president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) after the 2024 NBA election held online.
Osigwe garnered the most votes, totaling 20,395, outpacing his closest rivals, Tobenna Erojikwe with 10,970 votes, and Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), who obtained 9,007 votes.
The newly elected executives of the NBA for other positions include Sabastine Anyia who defeated Bartholomew Aguegbodo to emerge as the first vice President.
Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun with 26,534 votes, defeated Pius Oiwoh, who scored 11,121 votes to emerge as the second vice president, and Zainab Garba with 23,550 votes, defeating Michael Olorunmola, who received 13,897 votes to be elected as third vice president.
Dr. Mobolaji Ojibara was elected as the General Secretary while Henry Ehi would be serving as his assistant.
The NBA is Nigeria’s oldest professional membership organization and Africa’s most influential network of legal practitioners, with over 140,000 lawyers on its roll in 128 active branches across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
The NBA is engaged in the promotion and protection of human rights, the rule of law, and good governance in Nigeria.
