FG Unveils Nationwide Real-Time Online Classes for Secondary School Students

The Federal Ministry of Education has launched the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a nationwide digital learning programme designed to expand access to quality education for students across Nigeria.

The initiative was announced on Tuesday in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, who described the project as a “groundbreaking step” toward ensuring equitable learning opportunities for every child. She said the programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the education sector.

According to the ministry, the online learning platform is intended to tackle persistent challenges such as limited teacher availability, unequal access to qualified instructors, and disruptions to schooling. Through live, interactive virtual lessons, the programme aims to ensure that “no child is left behind regardless of location or circumstance.”

Nationwide Rollout Underway
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation has begun, with expansion planned from primary schools to senior secondary levels.

Currently, the Inspire platform streams classes for Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS) students from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., taught by certified master teachers via Cisco Webex.

Subjects Offered
For JSS students:
Basic Science, Mathematics, English Language, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies.

For SSS students:
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, Civic Education, and Automobile Mechanics.

States Directed to Prepare Schools

To ensure effective nationwide participation, the ministry has asked all state Commissioners for Education to:

Nominate a State Focal Officer to oversee activities.

Disseminate programme details to all public and private school principals.

Ensure participating schools have basic ICT equipment and reliable internet access.

Register students strictly through designated Inspire support channels.

The ministry noted that the programme is open to both public and private schools, stressing that participation is not limited to federal institutions.
