Education Minister Assures Implementation Of IPPIS

Education Minister, Prof Tahir Mamman affirms his ministry’s commitment to execute the presidential directive on Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) concerning tertiary institutions nationwide.

According to a release by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Ben Goong, the commitment was reiterated by the minister during a meeting with the leadership of the Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Education in Nigeria at his office in Abuja.

The education minister also promised to interface with the committee to ensure industrial peace and harmony in the nation’s colleges of education.

The Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Education is made up of provosts of federal, state and private colleges of education, nationwide.

The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, acknowledged the positive attitude of the leadership of colleges of education, adding that the ministry will reciprocate the gesture to ensure good working relationship between the ministry and colleges of education.

Sununu called on the leadership of the colleges and stakeholders to close ranks with the ministry to ensure improved enrolment of students into the colleges to guarantee steady supply of qualified teachers at the basic level of the education system.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the Committee of all Provosts of Colleges of Education Nationwide, Prof Faruk Haruna; and the Chairman of the Committee of Provosts of Federal Colleges of Education, Dr Ali Adamu, appealed to the ministers to facilitate the implementation of the presidential directive to take colleges of education out of the IPPIS.
