Dabiri-Erewa Announces Rescue Of 58 More Nigerians In Ghana
A total of 58 additional Nigerian women and children have been rescued from Human Traffickers in Ghana, raising the total number of Nigerians saved in Accra over the past three months to 105.
The Chairman Nigerians In Diaspora Organisation NIDO Board of Trustees in Ghana Chief Callistus Elozieuwa disclosed this to the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission NIDCOM Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa when she stopped by to visit the trafficked victims at their location in Accra.
A statement from Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the commission’s head of media and public relations, detailed that among those rescued, 47 were from Kano, Katsina 5, Jigawa 2 and Kaduna 4.
Excluding the recently saved ones, 11 more girls, earlier rescued are in the care of NIDO BOT Chairman, Chief Callistus Elozieuwa and the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner in Ghana, Amb. Ifedayo Adeoye have also been repatriated back to Nigeria.
The statement also noted that some of the alleged agents have likewise been captured and handed over to security agencies and NAPTIP for necessary profiling and prosecutions.
The rescued women and children are on their way back to Nigeria where they will be properly profiled and counselled, by NAPTIP, reunite with their families and rehabilitated by their various state governments
