ASUP Halts Scheduled Industrial Action

The Academic staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has called off its industrial action.
The Union has dismissed the Scheme of Service released by the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) for Polytechnics in the country.
A statement from the ASUP President, Comrade Shammah kpanja, says the Union had asked NBTE to address the discrimination against holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate, distorted employees progresion in service in the Polytechnics as contained in the Scheme of Service.
The Union had given a 15-day deadline to the federal government through the Federal ministry of Education to embark on Industrial action.
They lauded intervention of Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman and the Executive Secretary of the NBTE, Prof Idris Bugaje for the timely intervention to look into the provisions in the Scheme of Service.
